Nara

Nara is a small town which is famous for its deer. They are not walking around on the streets, but are kept within an enclosed area, which is a vast temple complex with pagodaโ€™s, shrines, museum and gardens.

The sacred dwarf deer are the species preserved for centuries, and the purity of breed is very valued.

They are not scared of people, some are even assertive trying to chase the tourists and get some treats. Specifically, the deer cookies are sold outside the complex, and are filled with artificial flavors to attract deer in combination with sedatives to make them less aggressive.

This bakery smelled tasty enough to try it myself. And if you think I did and that’s why I am a weirdo – I did not eat the cookies, I was born this way ๐Ÿ™‚

There are hundreds of deer and deer babies in the park. They are walking, lying around, and those who are further from the entrance and do not get fed as often, would follow you around with hungry eyes.
